Now let’s take a look at what exactly makes a air conditioner a good buy?
Cooling Capacity Rating
Perhaps one of the most important features that you should keep in mind when buying a air conditioner is the cooling capacity. This is measured in BTU’s which stands for British Thermal Units. The BTU you are aiming for is all dependent on the size of the room which you want to place your portable ac in.
Price of the Portable AC
When looking at air conditioners typically you get what you pay for. Generally speaking the more BTU’s a air conditioner is rated for the higher the cost. As mentioned before you don’t need such a high BTU if your looking to cool a small room it all depends on the area size. The price also depends on the brand of the ac, some brands are known to be better than others.
How easy it is to install the air conditioner
Let’s face it. We love simplicity. It can be hassle to read the manual and try to figure out which part goes where. We look at how easy it is to install the air conditioners. Something to mention to is how easy it is to maintain them. Typically portable air conditioners don’t require a lot of maintenance. You just might have to do some filter cleaning every now and then but that’s about it.
The Noise created by the air conditioner
Noise can be a huge distraction to us. A lot of us leave the AC on when were about to got to sleep or while were at home watching a movie. The last thing we want is to be unable to sleep because our portable air conditioner is too noisy.
Air conditioners usually come with a decibel rating. What the decibel rating gives you is the average sound of something. For example a decibel sound of 40 would be the sound you expect at a library or a bird call. At 50 it would be like a normal conversation at home. A decibel sound of 60 would be background music. At 70 it would be the sound of a vacuum cleaner.
